Make a difference
At the Indigenous Marathon Foundation, we deliver five programs across Australia focused on running and physical literacy built on the premise that:
- Every session builds resilience.
- Every kilometre or activity builds confidence.
- Every participant learns leadership skills.
- Every step forward is about developing leaders and role models.

Follow the Indigenous Marathon Project Journey
The Indigenous Marathon Project selects 12 First Nations squad members each year from all over Australia. Anyone can apply, you don't have to be a runner.
In the six-month program, the squad will run five official races taking them to Ngunnawal and Ngambri country, Yugambeh Country, Kabi Kabi Country, Arrernte Country and finally to New York City.
Your challenge is to run, walk or roll the same journey. Log your exercise and track your progress on your map.First Nations artwork by Shane Cook and Ray Landers, proud First Nations leaders in the IMF community, reflecting culture, identity and connection.
Earn rewards as you go
Every fundraising milestone you hit unlocks exclusive Indigenous Marathon Foundation merch to celebrate your effort. Land a pair of running socks, an IMF visor, cap, beanie and the exclusive ASICS Every Step Matters running shirt.

The event will run from 1 - 30 September. It's a virtual event, meaning you can complete it anywhere, anytime during the event period.
What do I have to do?
Register, create a team, invite your friends, family and colleagues to raise funds and help IMF nurture First Nations leaders. In September go the distance, smash your goal, hit your fundraising target and leave your limits behind.
Can I swim or cycle the IMF Virtual Run?
While we have designed the event around running, walking and rolling, everyone is welcome to participate regardless of the type of exercise they are doing. When you register, pick a goal distance that is appropriate for your exercise type.
